Dollar Tree, Inc. (NASDAQ: DLTR) disappointed investors with its fourth-quarter financial results released on March 14, 2024. The company’s sales for Q4 FY23 reached $8.63 billion, falling short of analyst expectations of $8.67 billion, while the adjusted EPS of $2.55 missed estimates of $2.65. Despite grappling with general liability claims, Dollar Tree’s core operations remained robust during the quarter.

Looking forward, Dollar Tree provided guidance for FY24, anticipating net sales between $31 billion and $32 billion, slightly below the consensus estimate. The company also expects adjusted EPS for FY24 to range from $6.70 to $7.30, compared to the estimated $7.04. For the first quarter of FY24, Dollar Tree forecasts net sales between $7.6 billion and $7.9 billion, with adjusted EPS projected at $1.33 to $1.48, lower than analyst expectations.

In response to the disappointing results, analysts adjusted their price targets for Dollar Tree stock. JP Morgan increased its price target to $157 and upgraded the stock to Overweight from Neutral, while Truist Securities maintained a Buy rating despite lowering its price target. Telsey Advisory Group also reiterated an Outperform rating for Dollar Tree.

Furthermore, JPMorgan Chase & Co. upgraded Dollar Tree shares from a “neutral” rating to an “overweight” rating, reflecting a positive outlook on the company’s future performance. Despite recent challenges, Dollar Tree remains optimistic about its growth prospects in the upcoming fiscal year, as reflected in the adjustments in analyst ratings and price targets.

Investors and analysts will be closely monitoring DLTR’s performance throughout the day to see if this pre-market uptick will continue or if the stock will face further declines. The drop in price could be attributed to a variety of factors, including overall market conditions, company-specific news, or changes in investor sentiment.
