National Vision Holdings Inc. demonstrated significant strength in Friday’s trading session, with its shares climbing 3.29% to close at $24.83. The optical retailer reached an intraday peak of $24.85 as trading activity surged, with volume reaching 3 million shares.

The company’s robust second-quarter results fueled this upward momentum, substantially exceeding market expectations. National Vision reported earnings per share of $0.18, outperforming the consensus estimate of $0.12. Revenue reached $486.42 million, representing a 7.7% increase compared to the same quarter last year and surpassing analyst projections of $469.21 million.

Institutional interest provided additional support for the stock’s advance. Channing Capital Management disclosed a substantial position, acquiring 474,244 shares valued at approximately $6.06 million. This investment represents roughly 0.6% of the company’s outstanding shares.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying National Vision?

Management expressed confidence in the company’s trajectory by raising its full-year 2025 guidance. The updated forecast anticipates revenue between $1.93 billion and $1.97 billion, with adjusted operating income projected in the range of $85 million to $95 million. The company expects adjusted earnings per share of $0.62 to $0.70 and comparable sales growth of 3% to 5%. Additionally, National Vision plans to expand its retail footprint with 32 new store openings.

Market analysts responded positively to these developments, with one research firm upgrading its rating from “Sell” to “Buy,” citing encouraging near-term indicators. The consensus price target among analysts currently stands at $24.73.

Investors will have an opportunity to gain further insight into the company’s strategic direction when management presents at the Goldman Sachs Global Retailing Conference scheduled for September 3.
