Leadership Turmoil at Nestlé as Second CEO Departs in a Year

Nestlé finds itself in a state of profound leadership instability following the abrupt dismissal of its chief executive for the second time in twelve months. The sudden exit of Laurent Freixe due to a violation of company policy has left investors questioning the governance of the food and beverage titan and who might be capable of steering it toward calmer waters.

The board ousted Freixe with immediate effect after an internal probe revealed an undisclosed romantic relationship with a subordinate, a direct breach of the firm’s code of conduct. Chairman Paul Bulcke characterized the move as “necessary,” underscoring the strength of the company’s values and governance principles. Freixe, a nearly four-decade veteran of the company, will receive no severance package.
