A powerful wave of analyst optimism is propelling Applovin’s stock to unprecedented heights, with several major financial institutions issuing significant price target increases. This surge in confidence has driven the share price to record levels.

Impressive Market Performance

The market’s reaction to the bullish analyst sentiment was immediate. Following the positive assessments from UBS and Piper Sandler, the stock advanced 3.9% in a single trading session. This jump propelled the shares to a new 52-week high of $665.41, contributing to a remarkable year-to-date gain of 94.7%. A key structural driver behind this momentum is the company’s upcoming inclusion in the S&P 500 index, which is expected to generate substantial demand from index-tracking funds obligated to purchase the stock.

Analyst Confidence Reaches New Highs

The catalyst for this rally stems from overwhelmingly positive research notes. In a standout move, UBS raised its price target by a substantial 50% to $810, simultaneously naming Applovin its “Top Pick.” Other firms quickly followed suit. Piper Sandler set a target of $740, citing anticipation for the October 1st launch of the Axon Ads Manager platform. Oppenheimer also increased its target to $740, emphasizing the company’s strong prospects in the non-gaming advertising market. The institutional confidence is further underscored by Jefferies, which reaffirmed its “Buy” rating with a $760 target, and Scotiabank, which maintained its “Outperform” stance.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Applovin?

Strong Fundamentals Underpin the Rally

The recent financial results provide a solid foundation for the current market enthusiasm. Applovin’s quarterly report, released on August 6th, revealed robust fundamentals. The company reported earnings per share of $2.26, surpassing the consensus estimate of $2.05. While revenue of $1.26 billion slightly missed analyst expectations of $1.37 billion, it still represented an impressive year-over-year quarterly growth rate of 77.1%.

Technology and Expansion Fueling Optimism

The primary reason for the analyst community’s optimism centers on Applovin’s technological edge and its expansion into new markets. The potential of the Axon 2.0 advertising platform is generating significant excitement. Key growth catalysts identified by market experts include:

  • The imminent launch of the Axon Ads Manager platform.
  • A major expansion into non-gaming advertising sectors.
  • Strong advertiser adoption, with spending levels comparable to other major platforms.
  • Expected upward revisions to earnings forecasts driven by ongoing platform improvements.
