Investor Lawsuits Mount for Beyond Meat Over Asset Valuation Concerns

Beyond Meat, the plant-based protein company, is facing multiple class-action lawsuits filed by investors. The legal actions center on allegations that the company made materially misleading statements about its financial condition during a specified period in 2025.

Core Allegations: Asset Impairment and Disclosure Failures

The litigation fundamentally questions the company’s accounting for certain long-term assets. Law firms representing shareholders allege that Beyond Meat failed to disclose crucial information regarding its financial health. The complaints specifically assert that:

  • The carrying value of certain long-lived assets was inflated above their fair market value.
  • This overvaluation made it highly probable that a significant non-cash impairment charge would be required.
  • The situation also jeopardized the timely filing of mandatory reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Consequently, the plaintiffs argue that public statements made by the company between late February and mid-November 2025 were “materially false and misleading.”

Timeline of Events: A Charge and a Delay

The issues became public in the autumn of 2025. In late October 2025, Beyond Meat disclosed that it anticipated a “significant” non-cash impairment on certain assets, triggering a notable decline in its share price.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Beyond Meat?

Shortly thereafter, in early November 2025, the company announced a delay in releasing its third-quarter financial results. It cited the need for additional time to complete the assessment of the potential impairment.

When the quarterly figures were finally published in mid-November 2025, they revealed a substantive operating loss. The results were significantly impacted by a non-cash impairment charge totaling $77.4 million, leading to further declines in the stock’s value.

Lead Plaintiff Deadline Approaches

Several law firms have recently issued notices reminding investors of their right to petition the court to be appointed as the “Lead Plaintiff” in the consolidated case. A strict deadline is in place for such petitions: they must be filed by the end of next month.
