Pool Corp. Faces Mounting Skepticism as Forecasts Are Trimmed

The investment thesis for Pool Corp. is undergoing a significant reassessment. Market sentiment has cooled in the near term, overshadowed by a series of downward earnings revisions, even as income-focused investors note today’s ex-dividend date.

Earnings Miss Drives Analyst Caution

The foundation for the current pessimism stems directly from the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 results. Pool Corp. reported earnings per share of $0.84, a noticeable shortfall against the market consensus of $0.99. Revenue also disappointed, coming in at $982.2 million. In response to these figures, the stock has declined approximately 1.9 percent today, hitting a new 52-week low at €178.75.

This operational performance has prompted analysts to adjust their models. Research firm Zacks has made a substantial cut to its first-quarter 2026 EPS estimate, lowering it from $1.48 to $1.32. Forecasts for the fourth quarter of the current year have also been sharply reduced.

Institutional Investors Show Diverging Views

The behavior of major institutional holders reflects a market in flux. Positioning data reveals contrasting strategies: Natixis Advisors increased its stake by over 28 percent during the third quarter, while Barclays reduced its holding by roughly 21 percent in the same period. Despite this reshuffling, institutional ownership remains exceptionally high at nearly 99 percent of all shares.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Pool?

Amid the revisions, the company maintains a stable quarterly dividend of $1.25 per share, payable on March 26.

Key Benchmarks for Fiscal 2026

All eyes are now on the full-year guidance for 2026, which serves as the central anchor for valuation. The critical figures are as follows:

  • Earnings Per Share (EPS) Forecast: $10.85 to $11.15
  • Consensus Analyst Price Target: $281.50
  • Quarterly Dividend: $1.25

The broad skepticism follows a disappointing 2025 finish, raising serious questions about the company’s ability to achieve its ambitious targets for the current year. Investors are awaiting the first-quarter 2026 results as the next crucial indicator. This report will be pivotal in assessing whether Pool Corp. can meet its revised expectations and begin to stabilize its underperformance relative to the broader market.
