NiSource delivered a robust quarterly performance, surpassing analyst expectations with adjusted earnings of $0.22 per share—a penny above forecasts—and revenue of $1.16 billion, beating estimates by 11%. Despite these results, shares dipped 1.22% in pre-market trading to $42.90, possibly due to profit-taking after a 37% surge over the past year. The energy provider reported steady customer growth, with electricity clients rising 1% and gas customers up 0.6%, outpacing internal projections. Notably, Ohio’s Columbus region grew 38% faster than the national average. The company also highlighted efficiency gains from its AI-driven workforce management system, boosting field productivity by 24%.

Raised Guidance and Strategic Investments

NiSource narrowed its 2025 earnings forecast to the upper range of $1.85–$1.89 per share, signaling confidence in sustained 6–8% annual profit growth. Regulatory approvals in Virginia ($40.7 million) and Indiana ($257 million) further solidified its outlook. The firm plans $19.4 billion in infrastructure investments through 2029, targeting 8–10% annual asset base expansion. Analysts project 2025 earnings at $1.87 per share, aligning with NiSource’s upward trajectory. With 39 consecutive years of dividend payouts and a $20 billion market cap, the company underscores its stability despite muted investor enthusiasm.
