While a net loss exceeding $12 billion in the final quarter of 2025 would typically trigger a sell-off, the market’s reaction to Strategy has been anything but typical. Instead of panic, a wave of buy recommendations from analysts has emerged, with many forecasting triple-digit upside potential for the shares. This apparent contradiction is rooted in the company’s unique balance sheet, which is almost entirely tied to the valuation of a single digital asset.
Bitcoin Holdings Dictate Financial Results
The firm’s financial reality is governed by its enormous cryptocurrency reserves. As of February 1, 2026, Strategy held precisely 713,502 Bitcoin. Prevailing accounting rules mandate write-downs when market prices fall below book value, leading directly to the colossal quarterly deficit. Crucially, these are primarily unrealized paper losses, not cash outflows.
The underlying crypto market has recently faced modest headwinds. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, including reports of U.S. strikes near Iranian energy infrastructure, pushed the price of Bitcoin below the $71,000 mark.

Unwavering Analyst Confidence
Market experts remain largely unfazed by this volatility and the resulting accounting charges. Out of 14 covering analysts, 13 maintain either a “Buy” or “Strong Buy” rating on the stock. The average price target on Wall Street stands at $368.21.
This confidence is mirrored in a tentative price recovery. After plunging to a 52-week low of €90.74 in early February, the share price has stabilized, closing Friday’s session at €122.20. Despite this rebound, the stock remains down nearly 50% year-to-date, highlighting its extreme volatility.
A key pillar supporting the current valuation is sustained institutional interest in the core asset. Between March 9 and 13 alone, approximately $767 million flowed into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, with BlackRock’s IBIT fund capturing a significant portion. For many large investors, as long as these regulated capital inflows continue, Strategy’s stock serves as a direct proxy for institutional adoption of the digital asset sector.
