This explosive movement follows the mining company’s decision to launch a legal offensive against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, challenging its veto of the multi-billion dollar Pebble Project in Alaska. Federal authorities face a January 2, 2026 deadline to formally respond to the lawsuit. Northern Dynasty CEO Ron Thiessen expressed the company’s readiness for the legal battle, stating, “We have waited long enough for our day in court.” A judicial decision is anticipated around mid-2026, a ruling that will ultimately determine the fate of one of North America’s most significant mineral resources.
