The arithmetic behind q.beyond’s recovery plan is straightforward: move customer support to Cluj, cut costs by €7 million annually, and return to profitability by 2027. The execution, however, is running against a clock that has already forced the company to walk back its targets for next year.
The IT services group has spent the past month absorbing the fallout from a sharply reduced 2026 outlook, and the numbers tell a sobering story. Management now guides for EBITDA of €3 million to €7 million, down from the €10 million to €16 million previously flagged, while revenue expectations have been trimmed to €176 million to €180 million from an earlier range of €182 million to €190 million. The revision stems from one-off charges of €5 million to €6 million tied to an accelerated AI transformation, which will also push the group into negative net income and negative free cash flow for the year.
Buyback tender opens with premium intact
Shareholders now have a concrete data point on how management views the equity’s worth. The tender offer launched this week runs until 28 September, with q.beyond prepared to pay €3.78 per share — a meaningful premium to Friday’s closing price of €3.48, which itself marked a 1.2 percent gain on the day. The buyback, capped at just under 10 percent of share capital and valued at roughly €9.42 million, became legally possible only after the six-month waiting period following the company’s capital reduction in August expired.
The offer sits on a comfortable balance sheet. Net liquidity stood at €41 million at the end of June, backed by an equity ratio of 70 percent — resources that give the group room to repurchase stock even as operations contract.
Shrinking but stable operations
The first-half figures provide the backdrop against which the buyback and the savings drive must be judged. Revenue slipped to €43 million from €44.4 million in the prior-year period, while adjusted EBITDA eased to €2.5 million from €2.7 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin held steady at 6 percent, and the group result came in at zero — unchanged from a year earlier.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying q.beyond?
Those are hardly numbers that suggest momentum. The business is generating consistent, if modest, returns without growing, and the Romanian nearshoring initiative is the clearest signal yet that management intends to change that dynamic. Starting in the third quarter, the Cluj operation will take over AI-powered, round-the-clock customer support, with the full annual savings of roughly €7 million expected to flow through from 2027 — enough, the company says, to restore group profitability and a sustainably positive free cash flow.
Healthcare expansion runs parallel to cost cuts
The efficiency program is not the only lever in motion. Around a month ago, q.beyond acquired a 51 percent stake in GITG AG, a specialist in SAP healthcare solutions that is developing a successor product for SAP S/4HANA. The timing is no accident: SAP’s support for the legacy IS-H hospital solution expires by 2030 at the latest, forcing clinics and healthcare providers to migrate well before then. Management sees that mandatory transition as a growth opportunity that sits outside the core IT services business.
Market takes a measured view
The share price has absorbed the recent news flow without any dramatic repricing. Over the past month, the stock has gained 3.6 percent, and Friday’s close left it marginally above its 50-day moving average of €3.42. Still, the paper trades 13 percent below its 52-week high of €4.00, and annualized volatility of 56 percent suggests investors remain divided on the outlook.
For those weighing whether to tender their shares, the calculus is relatively clear. The offer price carries a visible premium to the market, and the company’s own forecast implies a deliberately painful year ahead as transformation costs hit the income statement. Whether the Cluj savings materialize on schedule and the healthcare bet pays off will determine if 2027 actually delivers the promised turnaround — until then, the buyback stands as management’s most tangible statement of confidence in its own valuation.
