Touchscreens and Lift Platforms Are Reshaping How German Industry Weighs Its Goods

In pharmaceutical and food production, the old routine of scrubbing under a scale after every shift is disappearing. New platform lift systems, such as the LD4N, let operators raise the load plate with a simple mechanism, exposing the area beneath for cleaning without crouching or heavy lifting. The H315 series, built from AISI 304 stainless steel and rated IP66 or IP69, is designed to withstand high-pressure washdowns while keeping maintenance crews’ physical strain far lower than with conventional models.

The push for ergonomics goes well beyond hygiene. Factories and warehouses are adopting large touchscreens that reduce the need for repeated bending and squinting. The CY10 line uses a 10-inch touch interface to control packaged-goods inspections, automatically generating reports and charting measurement data in clear visuals. For more complex tasks, the TMX series runs on Windows 11 IoT and packs a 15.6-inch resistive touchscreen. It carries onboard databases for users, products and weighments, and connects over USB-A, USB-C, Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

Precision weighing in laboratories has also drawn attention. A new holder model, the UL-01-1, weighs just 103 grams and is compact enough to allow fatigue-free dosing directly into Erlenmeyer flasks or test tubes. For filter weighing, fully automatic chambers now use micro-balances with perforated, chemically resistant stainless-steel pans. These systems handle filters up to 100 millimeters in diameter and shield results from ambient interference, automating a step that once required meticulous manual work.

Reducing physical strain through better equipment is a smart start, but fully protecting your workforce also means having every hazard properly documented. A free Risk Assessment Toolkit provides 41 ready-to-use templates – covering fire safety, manual handling, lone working and more – so you can meet UK compliance requirements without starting from scratch. Over 37,000 businesses already use it to simplify their safety paperwork. Download the free Risk Assessment Toolkit

Stability and traceability are built into the hardware. The MONO BLOCK® technology ensures repeatability at loads up to 600 kilograms, while an ALIBI memory logs every weighment in tamper-proof fashion. Infrared sensors enable touchless operation, and programmable function keys plus internal automatic calibration round out the digital package. For hazardous areas, certified HRP weighing platforms meet ATEX or IECEx standards and handle capacities of up to 2,000 kilograms.

The combination of robust hardware – stainless steel, high ingress protection – with intuitive software is creating workstations that cut error rates and relieve employees from repetitive stress injury risks. Industry adoption is accelerating as companies look to modernize without sacrificing accuracy or compliance.
