Vimeo’s stock exhibited minimal movement in pre-market trading as investors continued to digest the company’s latest quarterly results, released earlier this week. The video platform’s financial performance presented a contradictory picture: modest revenue growth overshadowed by significant profit declines and contracting margins. This comes as Italian technology firm Bending Spoons prepares to finalize its acquisition of the company.

Profitability Concerns Overshadow Revenue Figures

For the third quarter of 2025, Vimeo reported revenue of $105.76 million, representing only marginal improvement over the previous year’s performance. The more concerning development emerged in profitability metrics, with the company posting a loss of $0.01 per share compared to anticipated earnings of $0.03 per share. The margin compression was particularly stark, collapsing from 7.9 percent to just 0.3 percent.

A segment breakdown reveals divergent trajectories:
* Enterprise business expanded by 18 percent to $25.5 million
* Self-serve operations remained stagnant at $58.7 million
* Adjusted EBITDA contracted to $12.4 million

Acquisition Context: Bending Spoons’ Dual Strategy

While Vimeo struggles with profitability challenges, its prospective owner Bending Spoons continues to make strategic moves. The Italian company recently secured $2.8 billion in financing for its AOL acquisition while simultaneously advancing the $1.38 billion transaction for Vimeo. Market observers expect both deals to conclude during the fourth quarter of 2025.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Vimeo?

This dual acquisition strategy raises questions about Vimeo’s future position within the expanding Bending Spoons portfolio. Will the video platform receive adequate attention and resources alongside the larger AOL integration?

Market Sentiment and Investment Considerations

The financial results paint a clear picture of a company in decline. Despite introducing new artificial intelligence capabilities and enhanced collaboration tools at its REFRAME conference, Vimeo has failed to achieve a sustainable profitability turnaround. Financial analysts remain cautious, maintaining “hold” ratings on the stock.

With a consensus price target of $6.81, market expectations suggest further potential downside. The central question for investors becomes whether establishing new positions remains worthwhile with the acquisition imminent. The investment thesis now hinges on Bending Spoons honoring the agreed $1.38 billion purchase price and ensuring Vimeo doesn’t become marginalized during the broader integration process with AOL.
