Nvidia’s Strategic Ascent: From Orbital Computing to a Trillion-Dollar Pipeline

The scale of the current artificial intelligence infrastructure boom was thrown into sharp relief at Nvidia’s recent GTC 2026 conference in San Jose. The chipmaker unveiled two significant developments: a strategic push into space-based computing and the revelation of an extraordinary $1 trillion order book, underscoring its dominant position in fueling the AI revolution.

Unprecedented Demand Visibility

Perhaps the most staggering announcement was the confirmation of a cumulative order pipeline reaching $1 trillion for its Blackwell and upcoming Vera Rubin chip architectures through 2027. This colossal figure is driven by the industry’s shift toward more computationally intensive Agentic AI and Physical AI models, which demand significantly more processing power than their predecessors.

This demand is already reflected in the company’s financial performance. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, Nvidia reported revenue of $68.1 billion, a 73% year-over-year increase. Sales in its data center networking segment surged by an even more remarkable 263%. Looking ahead, management has provided guidance for first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of approximately $78 billion. These results contributed to a full fiscal year 2026 revenue total of $215.9 billion, achieved with net margins exceeding 55%.

Launching AI Infrastructure into Orbit

In a bold expansion of its market reach, Nvidia is systematically targeting the field of satellite-based AI inference. The company introduced new computing modules designed for orbital data centers, including the Space-1 Vera Rubin Module slated for 2027 and the IGX Thor platform built on its Blackwell architecture.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

This initiative builds upon existing technology already in operation. Nvidia’s Jetson Orin modules are currently powering satellite constellations interconnected by optical links. This network allows for the dynamic scaling of distributed computational workloads directly in orbit. Key operators leveraging these systems for real-time connectivity and next-generation space missions include Kepler Communications, Axiom Space, Planet Labs, and Starcloud.

Analyst Outlook: Revised Targets Amid Lingering Questions

The announcements prompted several financial institutions to revise their price targets upward for Nvidia’s equity:

  • Evercore ISI: Raised its target to $352, citing the company’s adaptable ecosystem and resilient end-market demand.
  • Rosenblatt Securities: Set a new target of $325, effectively doubling its medium-term demand forecast.
  • Raymond James: Increased its target to $323, noting that current estimates may still prove conservative.

Despite these robust operational and financial metrics, the stock currently trades roughly 14% below its 52-week high of €179.62. This divergence between fundamental strength and market valuation highlights persistent investor uncertainty regarding the duration of the AI infrastructure cycle at its current intensity—a question that even the analysts’ upgraded targets do not fully resolve.
