Investors in FS KKR Capital are set to receive their next quarterly distribution, with the company finalizing a payment of $0.48 per share scheduled for early April. This consistent return to shareholders arrives, however, against a backdrop of notable pressure on the fundamental value of the business development company’s investment portfolio.

Dividend Details and Eligibility

The board of FS KKR Capital declared the $0.48 per share distribution for the first quarter of 2026. This total comprises a base dividend of $0.45 supplemented by an additional $0.03. Shareholders must be on the register by the close of trading on Wednesday, March 18, to qualify for the payment. The company expects funds to be credited to investor accounts on April 2.

This payout level, which fully utilizes the firm’s most recent net investment income per share, was determined in conjunction with the release of annual results in late February.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying FS KKR Capital?

Declining Net Asset Value Weighs on Share Price

Despite the reliable dividend, underlying financial metrics have softened. The company’s fourth-quarter 2025 net investment income registered at $0.48 per share, a noticeable drop from the $0.57 per share reported for the previous quarter. More significantly, the net asset value (NAV) per share declined from $21.99 to $20.89 over the same period.

This reduction in NAV is attributed primarily to realized and unrealized losses within the portfolio, reflecting challenges in certain investments throughout the past year. The market has mirrored these concerns: the stock recently touched a new 52-week low of €8.84 this past Friday. Since the start of the year, the share price has fallen by more than 30%.

While the current distribution remains covered by net investment income, the diminished NAV leaves little room for further portfolio depreciation without potentially impacting future payout capacity.
