Li-FT Power Charts a Dual-Track Strategy as Quebec Drilling Kicks Off

A former diamond mine in Quebec could become the unlikely backbone of Li-FT Power’s lithium ambitions. The junior explorer has secured court approval to acquire the Renard mine site, giving it access to existing processing infrastructure and permits — a potential shortcut to production that few peers can match.

The Renard option landed just as the company fired up a major drilling campaign at its Adina-Galinée project in Quebec, with 163 diamond drill holes planned across roughly 38,970 metres. The timing is deliberate: both moves follow the completion of Li-FT Power’s merger with Winsome Resources and signal a shift from pure exploration to a more development-focused identity.

Shares responded positively, rising 6.57% to €2.27 in Tuesday’s session, though the stock remains 22.26% below its level 30 days ago. The bounce came alongside news of a refreshed management team: Jeff Reinson has taken over as Chief Operating Officer, while April Hayward steps in as Executive Vice President for external affairs and strategic partnerships. Market participants view the leadership shake-up as a necessary stabilisation after the stock slid below its 50- and 200-day moving averages.

Infrastructure as a Competitive Edge

The Renard acquisition is the centrepiece of Li-FT Power’s strategy to shorten the path to cash flow. Rather than building a processing plant from scratch, the company could truck ore from nearby exploration targets — including Adina-Galinée — to Renard’s existing facilities. This hub-and-spoke model could slash upfront capital costs significantly.

Supporting the thesis are recent drill results from the Yellowknife lithium project in the Northwest Territories, where 26 metres returned 1.29% Li2O. Over the past 12 months, Li-FT Power’s stock has gained 62.14%, and at current levels it sits 80.88% above its 52-week low of €1.25. Some investors interpret that as evidence of a consolidating base rather than a warning flag.

A preliminary economic study for Yellowknife is expected in 2027, while environmental baseline studies continue at the site. In parallel, geologists are conducting mapping and till sampling at the Cancet, Tilly and Sirmac-Clapier properties, searching for additional spodumene pegmatite occurrences.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Li-FT Power?

Macro Headwinds and Execution Risks

The bullish narrative faces stiff headwinds. Lithium carbonate prices dropped roughly 20% in June 2026, pressured by new supply coming online and the emergence of alternative battery chemistries. Li-FT Power remains pre-revenue, and its year-to-date performance of minus 14.66% reflects investor caution.

The stock currently trades 28.64% below its 200-day moving average of €3.18, underscoring a medium-term downtrend. Annualised volatility stands at 70.95%, keeping the profile firmly in high-risk territory. The relative strength index sits at 39.5, signalling weak momentum — though the secondary article pegs it at 39.0, suggesting the recent sell-off may be exhausting itself.

Converting a former diamond mine for lithium processing carries its own risks. Maintenance costs and retrofitting expenses could weigh on the balance sheet, and if exploration results at Adina-Galinée fall short of expectations, the company’s current market capitalisation of €111.18 million could come under further pressure.

What Comes Next

The next major catalyst is first drill data from the Quebec programme, expected in the second half of 2026. If the results confirm high-grade extensions at Adina-Galinée, the stock could stage a rally toward its 52-week high of €5.70 — a level it currently trades 60.18% below.

The upcoming quarterly report, due in the final days of July 2026, will provide an update on the company’s cash position and early progress from the summer drilling campaign. For now, Li-FT Power’s fate hinges on whether its infrastructure bet can insulate it from the broader lithium price slump — or whether the Renard option becomes a costly distraction.
