Orvana Minerals has reached a significant operational milestone in South America. The company has poured its first gold-silbar doré bar at its Don Mario facility in Bolivia, signaling that the commencement of full-scale commercial production is now within reach. This achievement represents a strategic pivot, enabling the more efficient extraction of resources through newly implemented technical processes.

Operational Stability and Exploration Focus

While this development in Bolivia captures attention, Orvana’s existing Orovalle mine in northern Spain continues to provide operational stability. Production there remains on schedule, supporting the company’s overall financial outlook for the 2026 fiscal year. Concurrently, the miner is advancing its long-term growth strategy through exploration. In Argentina, the focus is on the Taguas project, where a deep-drilling campaign spanning approximately 4,500 meters is underway. This program, searching for copper-gold porphyry indicators, is expected to continue until the end of April.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Orvana Minerals?

Don Mario’s Restart and Technical Advance

The restart of the Don Mario plant, targeted for March 2026, follows a deliberate expansion and modification of the facility. The introduction of new technical circuits allows Orvana to process copper oxides from stockpiled ore that originated from previous mining activities. The objective is to transition to full commercial operations by April 2026. This move is set to activate a crucial new revenue stream, complementing the company’s existing portfolio of precious and base metals.

Market Response and Forthcoming Catalyst

The news prompted a positive reaction in the market, with Orvana’s equity advancing roughly 7 percent to trade at 1.51 CAD. Despite this near-term gain, the stock’s medium-term performance remains under pressure, having lost more than 25 percent of its value since the start of the year. All eyes are now on the planned achievement of commercial production in Bolivia this April. This upcoming milestone is widely viewed as the next critical test that will determine the sustainability of the recent share price movement.
