Primary Hydrogen’s Land Rush Outpaces Its Share Price as Autumn Drill Test Looms

The gap between corporate activity and market reception has rarely looked wider for Primary Hydrogen. While the explorer has spent recent weeks methodically stitching together a multi-province land package, its share price has gone in the opposite direction — shedding nearly half its value in just seven trading sessions.

The sell-off accelerated after last Thursday’s staking announcement, with the stock closing Friday at €0.73, down roughly 23 percent. The slide leaves the company’s equity trading at a level that suggests investors are refusing to pay up for acreage alone, however strategically assembled.

A Portfolio Built at Speed

The Wallace Natural Hydrogen Project — four exploration licences covering 68 claims across roughly 1,101 hectares around Wallace Bay in Nova Scotia — was the latest addition to a rapidly growing inventory. That staking brought Primary Hydrogen’s Cumberland Basin holdings to six licences and 140 claims spanning about 2,267 hectares.

But Wallace Bay was merely the most recent move in a broader expansion spree. Days earlier, the company had secured the Northumberland Natural Hydrogen Project, two exploration licences over roughly 1,166 hectares between Northport and Pugwash. Further afield, in northwestern Ontario, the Seagull North Project added 313 contiguous claims across about 65 square kilometres, adjoining ground the company already held.

That Ontario decision came after neighbouring operator Anteros Metals reported a rush sample with a hydrogen content of 0.65 percent in late May — a data point that evidently justified extending the company’s footprint in the area.

A Slender Cash Base Under Strain

The expansion has not been without friction. Primary Hydrogen was forced to cancel subscriptions worth $10,000 from its non-brokered private placement, which had closed in early July. The sum is modest in absolute terms, but it underscores how tightly calibrated the company’s capital position remains at a moment when exploration commitments are growing.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying PRIMARY HYDROGEN?

Insider activity in recent months paints a mixed picture of sentiment within the boardroom. Director William Heenan acquired 8,333 shares in early July at a price of €0.60, while director Martin Kowcun sold 15,187 shares the same day at €1.11. CEO David Jackson has reported no personal transactions.

The Autumn Drill Campaign Becomes the Only Metric That Matters

For all the acreage accumulated, the defining event for Primary Hydrogen remains the fully funded work programme announced in early August. A first drilling campaign of 1,500 metres is slated for autumn 2026, and it is this programme — not the staking announcements — that will determine whether the geological assumptions underpinning the Cumberland Basin projects hold up.

Market observers note that no single, hard catalyst beyond the flurry of corporate news appears to have triggered the recent share price decline. The absence of a specific trigger points to a broader recalibration: investors are distinguishing between land acquisition and exploration success, and the latter has yet to be demonstrated.

Licences and claims generate no cash flow. Until drill results emerge from the 1,500-metre campaign, the equity remains a call option on exploration outcomes, its valuation hostage to sentiment toward hydrogen explorers as a group.

The coming weeks will test whether the company’s aggressive land strategy translates into geological substance — or whether the insider selling among some directors was an early signal of wavering confidence. For now, the market’s verdict is clear: paper acreage is no substitute for proof in the ground.
